About Us
Founded in 1985, Idaho Afloat has been offering whitewater adventures for over 20 years. The company was founded in 1985 by Scott Faskan and was purchased by our group in the Fall of 2007. We are the Colbert family, along with Charlotte Hanna of Confluence Rafting. We are all accomplished rafting experts and river enthusiasts, and are realizing our dream of sharing our passion for white water river vacations with the world. We are each avid outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen and have been running whitewater for many years. Collectively, our river resume includes most of the Idaho rivers, several trips down the Grand Canyon, the Gauley in West Virginia, the Rogue, the San Juan, Desolation Canyon on the Green, and many others.
Idaho Afloat offers multi-day whitewater vacations and fishing vacations on four of Idaho’s rivers, The Snake River, through Hells Canyon, the Main Salmon, also known as the River of No Return, and The Lower Salmon River. Each is beautiful and unique. We also offer fishing vacations on the mellow Clearwater River. No matter which river you choose you can be sure that you will be eating a gourmet menu while you are relaxing and enjoying our entertaining and knowledgeable guides. We have exciting plans for the upcoming season and years to come. This season we are introducing Cast & Blast rafting trips where you can enjoy fishing Idaho’s plentiful rivers or hunting in otherwise hard-to-reach areas. For the more adventurous, we will be offering raft support trips for canoes and kayaks while providing top-of-the-line paddling instruction. If you are looking to spend some quality time with your mate consider our new Couples-Only trip. The specialty trip offers several days on the Lower Salmon River, private beaches, and candlelight dinners.
